My failed resume
I was a happy child until I had self-harming thoughts at age 14.
Here's why:
Elder kids in primary school laughed at me every day and said I am ugly.
Hated at a new school, had no friends, no one to talk to.
Got teased and found out that I was a kid from a mistress.
Parents are fighting, screaming, and yelling day and night in the house.
That was my childhood and teenhood.
I am 41. I'm sharing this because I crawled out of darkness. And I want to help others to crawl out theirs.
What pain do I want to eradicate for others?
I want to put a stop in generational trauma, bullying, and suicide.
It pains me deeply to see young children, teens choosing to end their lives.
There's so much pressure for kids to be busy, to perform, being compared.
Their days are packed with classes.
No fun.
No playtime.
Just chores and work.
Fulfilling the grown-up's expectations.
Prioritizing busyness over rest, and quietness
And then you layer social media, smart phones, and AI on top of them.
Technology that makes gaming and contents even more addictive.
This is not just one parent's issue. It's the issue facing every single parent on this planet.
Kids and teens choosing to end their life is never just the one thing. They fail to see hope, reason to live because:
It's everything.
Family.
Education.
School.
Loneliness.
Expectation and pressure.
They can't feel that they are loved, they are safe or they can be themselves.
I was one of them.
If you are a parent, I hope you will take this Friday off, to give a moment to your kids.
Listen to understand what they need.
Be there for them.
Love them.
Don't listen to speak, teach, or preach.
They are not asking for life lessons.
They are just asking for your attention and compassion.
Quiet doesn't mean okay. Especially if they are labeled as quiet introverts.
Share this post to give a moment to quiet people.
Evolve Together,
Aaron
