Can You Help Move the Needle for Our Earth Before It's Too LATE?
A sustainability workshop with Climate Fresk and Leathwaite
Last week, I attended a sustainability workshop organized by Simple Kan and hosted by the generous team at Leathwaite.
It was a wonderful opportunity to brainstorm with many talented people who care about our earth. Special thanks to Jenny Lam (also Faith ๐ณ) from Climate Fresk for leading the workshop.
As an inspirational writer, I secretly snapped a picture of The Leathwaite Way. Itโs wonderful to see companies stepping up to make a social difference: providing venue, food and letting their employees take time off to take charge of a social initiative during work hours.
Leadership is about doing the right things. Actions speak louder than titles.
Here are 3 highlights I wanted to share from the session:
1) ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ก:
Animal products produce 10-50 times more emissions than plant-based foods. They use 77% of agricultural land but only provide 18% of the worldโs calories.
3) The estimated ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐จ๐ญ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ ๐ฉ๐๐ซ ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ง ๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ is about 14.84 tonnes of CO2 each year, which is double the world average. Electricity and air travel make up almost 60% of this.
When we think about climate change, we also need to focus our efforts on initiatives that will actually move the needle. (Refer to the attached charts)
Things which I will continue to do:
1) Taking cold-shower.
2) Stopped ordering takeaway from delivery platforms.
All of us pledged small changes we will commit to in 2025.
I pledged to do these 3 actions:
1) Increase plant-based diet and reduce weekly beef consumption by 50%.2) Write a LinkedIn post to raise awareness (Done)3) Send a newsletter to my global readers. (this one)

Recyling alone is not enough. We need to advocate conscious consumption.
Comment and share your great ideas to help fight climate change.
Evolve together,
Aaron
